Colleton County Warrant Records Colleton County Warrant Records

Start with the issuing court. This private reference site cannot confirm a warrant, change a court order, or accept a payment. Colleton County questions may belong with the Clerk of Court, a county Magistrate, a municipal court, or the Sheriff's Warrants and Civil Process Unit. The type of case and the court printed on the citation or order determine the right contact. Use the local routes below, then give the official office the case number and date so it can verify the record.

This Is Not a Government or Law Enforcement Office. We run a private reference site. We cannot confirm whether a warrant exists, recall or clear a warrant, post bond, arrange a surrender, or give legal advice. For any of those, contact the court that issued the order or the law-enforcement office responsible for service. A search result or payment receipt from an outside site cannot replace that official answer.

Need Official Warrant Information?

Choose the office by case type. Have the full name, case or citation number, and any missed court date ready when calling. Ask the clerk to confirm the current docket and explain whether a later court order changed the original notice.

  • County warrant service: call the Colleton County Sheriff's Warrants and Civil Process Unit at (843) 549-1964. It handles warrant-service questions; the office does not publish a complete public active-warrant list. For general sheriff business, use (843) 549-2211.
  • General Sessions criminal records: contact the Colleton County Clerk of Court at 101 Hampton Street, Walterboro, telephone (843) 549-5791. Ask about the criminal docket, the warrant record, and the court's procedure for a missed setting.
  • Magistrate Court matters: the Colleton County Magistrate and Bond Court is at the Jessie D. Padgett Building, 40 Klein Street, Walterboro. Call (843) 549-1122 for Magistrate Court and Bond Court routing, or (843) 549-1140 for criminal and traffic matters.
  • Walterboro municipal cases: the Municipal Court is at 242 Hampton Street; call (843) 782-1057 about a city traffic, ordinance, or court-date question. It does not publish a public warrant roster.
  • Edisto Beach citations: contact the town's Municipal Court and Town Hall at 2414 Murray Street, (843) 869-2505, extension 206 for the clerk. The Edisto Beach Police Department's non-emergency number is (843) 543-2211.
  • Cottageville citations: call Municipal Court and Town Hall at (843) 835-8655. Its online citation portal uses a citation number and last name and is a payment lookup, not a warrant-status tool.
  • Williams or Smoaks paperwork: read the court name on the document first. Williams Town Office is (843) 635-1005; Smoaks Town Office is (843) 562-8632. These town contacts can help route a question but are not public warrant-search portals.
  • Traffic ticket search: the South Carolina ticket lookup may require a citation number, driver's license and state, or first and last name with date of birth. A recently issued ticket can take several business days to appear.
  • Public-record request: direct a written request to the agency or court that maintains the record. Sheriff's FOIA requests have a separate form and may involve search, retrieval, redaction, copying, or media charges.

Before traveling, call to confirm hours and the correct counter. A court may require an appearance or other step even when an online vendor shows a fine balance. Ask the clerk directly whether a warrant remains active and what the judge requires; only the issuing court can recall or modify its order.

For FOIA questions to the Sheriff's Office, the current request form lists ccso-foia@colletoncounty.org. The form describes a search, retrieval, and redaction charge of $25 per hour, a possible deposit of 25 percent, and additional copying or media costs. A records request is not an immediate warrant check and should not be used as a substitute for contacting the court about an urgent appearance.

For a traffic citation, the South Carolina Judicial Branch search accepts a citation number, a driver's license with its state, or a first and last name with date of birth. New ticket data can take three to five business days to appear. That lookup locates ticket information; it does not establish whether a judge has issued or recalled an FTA warrant. Cottageville's portal uses its own citation-number and last-name fields, while eligible county Magistrate Court fines have separate payment instructions.

When an online page gives no match, check the citation format, confirm the court name, and call the clerk before treating the record as missing. If you need a public record rather than a status answer, describe the file, date range, or case number in a written request to the office that keeps it. A Sheriff FOIA response is subject to its review and fee process, and it does not create a new court date or change an existing order.

When a court gives instructions by phone, note the date, the office, and any return date or filing step. Ask the clerk to distinguish a balance from a bond requirement and a payment receipt from a warrant recall. If the record belongs to another court, request its direct contact rather than assuming one county office can speak for every municipal or circuit docket.
